Employment in the Context of L.I.F.E. Services (Nov 18-Dec 20, 2024)

This learning experience will take place both virtually and live in your community. There will be 40 hours of facilitated virtual learning and 4 weeks of practical application. The virtual learning sessions focus primarily on strengthening the practice of staff who work in L.I.F.E. Services or staff who work in other services who are interested in enhancing their practice related to promoting lifelong learning, strengthening informal support networks as well as community and economic inclusion.

The practical application weeks are designed to be experienced in pairs; a L.I.F.E. Service or other service participant and their staff. Service Participants, Families and Caregivers are encouraged to join for the morning of the first virtual day to introduce themselves and meet the other people embarking on the Learning Experience. Service Participants, Families and Caregivers are also encouraged to attend the final virtual day ‘Learning Showcase’ presentations where all involved in the Learning Experience will make presentations to demonstrate their mastery of Learning Outcomes. If service Participants, Families and Caregivers choose to take part in some or all of the rest of the virtual Learning Sessions they are more than welcome!

Instructor

Maggie Vilvang has worked in support of people with diverse abilities, their networks, service providers and funders for decades, and she has learned a lot from all of them. As the lead service designer on CLBC’s ‘Advancing New Support Options Project’ Maggie had the opportunity to work with an awesome team and bring those lessons to life… well actually to L.I.F.E.

For the last few years Maggie has been working alongside service providers as L.I.F.E. Services expands around the province and is honoured to have had the opportunity to design, prototype, and now facilitate ‘Employment in the Context of L.I.F.E. Services’ for the BCEN.
